Session Description
District 287 in Minnesota facilitates the creation and sharing of digital content. We rely on open-source platforms (Moodle/phpbb) and encourages the use of Open Educational Resources; Public Domain and Creative Commons content to facilitate a culture of innovation through sharing. Online units created by District 287 partnerships are shared via MoodleShare. You will leave this session with free digital content to access and use with students immediately.
This session has been recorded and the link will be added when it is posted by iNACOL.
Thanks to everyone for attending! Several people asked about some of the resources we've used to guide our project. Here the links to those resources:
Content, Units, Etc.:
**• MoodleShare Courses**
This link is the most important link from the session. Takes you to the free, downloadable content from our presentation.
• Innovation Forum
Free to anyone to sign up and participate, this is where we guided the conversations about the grant work. The main section is open to all educators, and provides a forum for the discussion of ideas in innovation of education.
Foundational Research on Innovation
• Everett Rogers Diffusion of Innovations: Wikipedia, Book
Rogers' work is the seminal research on innovation. We use it to guide all projects involving innovation in our district.
• Steven Johnson: Video, Book
We use the principles advocated by Steven Johnson to guide a lot of our work involving collaboration and idea development.
Design Principles
• Robin Williams Principles of Design: Book
We like Robin Williams for getting non-designers up to speed quickly on fundamental design principles. She's a very good communicator and provides an efficient mechanism for learning good design quickly.
